2The SRTC is
- the research and training arm of the Philippine
Statistical System (PSS) - created in 1987 by virtue of Executive Order 121
of then Pres. Corazon Aquino - One of the five major statistical agencies
- Under the supervision of the National Economic
and Development Authority (NEDA)
3Mandates of the SRTC
To develop a comprehensive and integrated
research and training program on the theories,
concepts and methodologies for the promotion of
the statistical system To undertake research
on statistical concepts, definitions and methods
4Mandates of the SRTC
To promote collaborative research efforts among
members of the academic community, data producers
and users To conduct non-degree training
programs to upgrade the quality of statistical
manpower base in support of the needs of the
statistical system, and
5Mandates of the SRTC
To provide financial and other forms of
assistance to enhance statistical research and
development.

- Annual budget of about US 200,000 from our
General Appropriations Act - Headed by an Executive Director with a staff of
25 personnel - Policy matters discussed by a Governing Board
