Type of Connection
  • Radial Few issues with interconnection. 95 of
    our customers are served radially.
  • Spot Network Larger, non-inverter based DG can
    present significant safety and reliability
issues. Spot Networks typically serve individual,
large customers and can be found in Boston,
    Newton, Brookline, Cambridge New Bedford.
  • Area Network Currently, no known designs have
been identified to properly address the safety
and reliability concerns of DG on an area
network. NSTAR has area networks in downtown
    Boston and Cambridge.

Netmetering Power Purchase
  • Netmetering
  • The meter will spin forward and backward to allow

    production
  • Allowed for 1 billing cycle, i.e. overproduction
cannot be carried over to the next month or next
    season
  • Customers must sign a power purchase contract to
receive payment or credit for monthly
    overproduction
  • Power purchase represents the generation portion
    of the electric bill
  • Netmetering allowed only for 60 kw and below

10
Above 60 kw
  • If any overproduction is expected
  • Customer must sign power purchase agreement
  • Bi-metering must be installed to record any
