Pharmacy Leadership Education Institute (PLEI)

• Mission
• The Pharmacy Leadership Education Institute
  (PLEI) develops leaders among student pharmacists
  and pharmacists by conducting programs to improve
  leadership skills, to strengthen the profession
  as a whole, and thereby advance the public
  health.
• PLEI takes a special interest in supporting and
  advancing the Phi Delta Chi Pharmacy Fraternitys
  mission of developing pharmacys future leaders.

• 1989 first Leader Development Seminar (LDS),
  during 57th Grand Council (Monterey)
• early 1990s discussions about value of a
  second bulls-eye
• 1995 60th Grand Council (Memphis)
• authorizes establishment of PLEI
• 1996 Pharmacy Leadership Education Institute
  first meets
• in March. Incorporated in Georgia on Oct 8.
• 1998 Recognized by IRS as 501(c)(3) charitable
  foundation
• on Apr 2, with tax ID 58-2296988
• 2000 PLEI takes over responsibility for LDS
  program
• 2006 Saroyan Leadership Challenge Fund created
• To date 112,000 pledged by 71 Brothers,
  86,000 received

• Leader-Development. Seminars for leaders
• 5-day immersion programs (Leader-Development
  Seminar, LDS) for Phi Delta Chi Brothers and
  guests, in even-numbered summers
• 5-day Officer Training Courses (OTCs),
• 1-day seminars for student pharmacists (LD101)
• 1-day seminars for young pharmacists (LD501)
• Leader Recognition. At various levels in
  pharmacy
• Albert B. Prescott / GlaxoSmithKline Pharmacy
  Leadership Award, awarded to notable young
  pharmacist
• Award programs to recognize excellence within
  F?? Rand P. Hollenback, Norman H. Franke,
  Desmet, other scholarships.
• Other Activities.
• Document history of Phi Delta Chi Fraternity and
  PLEI.
• Provide leadership activities in appropriate
  settings that aid the profession of pharmacy,
  public health, or society as a whole.
• Enable the broadest exposure of self-development
  content to student pharmacists in their academic
  and experiential programs.
