Pilbara Revitalisation Plan Two Phases
- Phase One
- four key delivery initiatives of health, energy,
community development and water initiatives. - Phase Two
- new initiatives across the Pilbara
- future regional studies and regional planning.

Pilbara Revitalisation Plan Phase One
Initiatives
- Phase One initiatives have commenced and include
- Health Initiatives
- 2.5 million to immediately improving clinical
and medical imaging equipment across all Pilbara
Hospitals - 32.964 million provided to the Pilbara Health
Partnership. - Energy Initiatives
- The Pilbara Underground Power Project - to the
coastal towns ofSouth Hedland, Roebourne,
Karratha and Onslow.

Pilbara Revitalisation Plan Phase One
Initiatives
- Community Development Initiatives
- 77.5 million allocated across the four Pilbara
Local Government Authorities for various
community infrastructure projects to revitalise
each town. -

Pilbara Water Initiatives
- Pilbara water resources will play an important
role in the regions economic diversification.
The Western Australian Government has developed - a draft Pilbara Regional Water Plan (PRWP) in
2008, followed by - an independent prefeasibility study to identify
water source options and opportunities in the
Pilbara released in May 2009. - Water source options identified in the Study
- mine dewater for various uses
- coastal surface/alluvial water
- supplementary bore field development
- pipeline construction to integrate source with
demand - desalination.

Pilbara Water Initiatives
- The next stage is to test some of these options.
- 2.5 million under the Royalties for Regions
Pilbara Revitalisation Plan Phase One has been
allocated for this process. - Funding will be allocated towards undertaking
trial pilot projects and/or associated works to
test the feasibility of an option. -

Pilbara Water Initiatives
- The Department of Regional Development and Lands
is keen to receive proposals for funding that - create secondary economies, agricultural
development and indigenous capacity building
within the Pilbara hinterland - leverage opportunities to partner with
Commonwealth Government, Industry and Indigenous
Communities. -

Pilbara Water Initiatives
- Government will formally call for EOIs from
private and public sector to submit proposals for
funding from the allocated 2.5 million in late
October 2009 early November 2009.
