Initial Blade Placement
The thin profile of the blade will allow passage
in narrow oral openings (blade may be initially
placed with either hand).

Proper Blade Placement
BLADE HELD
Maintain a grip (with left hand) on the blade as
shown. The blade should be held midline to
retract the tongue. It is NOT necessary to apply
enough force to lift the head off the table.

Initial Scope Placement
HANDLE RELAXED
EXTENDED TIP
With patient at appropriate height, insert scope
with handle lever relaxed and in the fully
extended position.

• UVULA
• EPIGLOTTIS, advance past it flex handle and
  see
• VOCAL CORDS

Advance scope and fully flex AFTER you visualize
EPIGLOTTIS!

VOCAL CORDS
CORDS
If blade inserted too far, pull back with left
hand (blade). Hold scope steady with right hand
until you view VOCAL CORDS!

Rock Through Cords
HOLD FLEXION
Rock scope backwards to advance tip past vocal
cords. Maintain flexion of lever with right hand.

Remove Blade
Once scope tip is through cords you can remove
the plastic blade for easy tube deployment.
Maintain grip and hold scope steady with right
hand.

Advance Tube
RELAX HANDLE
SLIDE TUBE
Hold scope steady with right hand, RELAX HANDLE.
Use left hand to slide tube off tube stop.

Remove Scope
RELAX HANDLE!!!
After tube is advanced desired distance, pull
back with right hand to remove scope. HANDLE
LEVER IS RELAXED
