Volcanic gases and ash affect the air

• Hydrogen sulfide gas smells like rotten eggs
  creating an unpleasant odor.
• Carbon dioxide gas is given off making breathing
  difficult and can damage a persons lungs which
  could result in death.
• Sulfur dioxide gas forms acids when mixed with
  water in the air creating acid rain which can be
  damaging to forests and killing fish in area
  lakes.
• Changes in temperature can occur creating massive
  worldwide weather patterns.

• Underground water heated from the molten rock
  can result in formation of hot springs, geysers,
  fumaroles, and deep-sea vents.
