  • The mission of the Canadian Landmine Foundation,
    a partner in the global Adopt-A-Minefield
    Campaign, is to raise awareness and funds to
    help eradicate landmines and end the human and
    economic suffering they cause.

Key Elementsof the Campaign
  • Adopt-A-Minefield and the United Nations
    identify minefields for adoption.
  • Adopters can adopt entire minefields or part of a
    minefield.
  • Entire minefield average 40,000.
  • Partial minefield as little as 5 (pooled
    contributions).
  • Some donors contribute directly to AAM and some
    raise funds through our annual campaign called
    the Night of a Thousand Dinners
  • Clearance Operations Coordinated by United
    Nations and select mine action NGOs

Mine Detection Dogs
  • MDDs trained in Bosnia by the Canadian
    International Demining Corps.
  • CIDC has never had a dog killed or injured in the
    field
  • Cost of purchase and training 19,300
  • MDDs speed up clearance by 10 times.

A Solvable Problem
  • Ottawa Treaty banning the production, use and
    trade now law in 155 countries
  • Trade has dropped from 34 countries in 1995 to 0.
  • 60,000,000 mines in stockpile destroyed
  • Worldwide, with increased mine awareness and mine
    removal, mine injuries and fatalities have
    decreased every year

Night of a Thousand Dinners
  • On or around December 3rd, 2008 and March 1, 2009
  • You volunteer to host a simple dinner in your
    home or organize a social event at your workplace
    or have community dinner at your local service
    club or local church
  • Sign up on our website www.clmf.org to host a
    dinner
  • We will provide you with a host kit including a
    DVD so it is an informed gathering.

Day of 1,000 Lunches
  • Celebrate Peacekeepers Day on August 9th and
    raise funds to remove landmines.
  • Landmines are the greatest single threat to
    Peacekeepers.
  • The Canadian Landmine Foundation operates the
    Peacekeepers Demining Fund to clear mines and aid
    survivors in the name of selected Canadian
    peacekeepers.
