Color Charge
  • Quarks and gluons are color-charged particles
  • When two quarks are close to one another, they
    exchange gluons and create a very strong color
    force field that binds the quarks together.

  • A quark may have 1 of 3 possible color charges
    an antiquark may have 1 of the 3 complementary
    color charges and a gluon may have 1 of 8 kinds
    of color charge.
  • All observed particles are color-neutral objects
