- Download components/order CD
- Read the release notes
- Ensure you have clean event logs
- Ensure you have restorable backups
- Check available disk space on C (2Gb)
- Test in a non-production environment (ideally not
a virtual environment) - Refer to online community help (see references
later)

download site - Dont install remotely
- Have plenty of time (2-6 hrs depending on which
components you still need) - Disconnect Internet connection
- Disable anti-virus software

- Cannot download ISA Server 2004, must order the
CD from Microsoft - DO NOT install any other ISA2004 version (eg from
ISA2k4 CDs) as additional scripts are necessary
to move settings from ISA2k installation

- SBSMONITORING and SHAREPOINT are upgraded by SBS
SP1 automatically - If SHAREPOINT is running with full SQL Server
2000 then upgrade manually - Other instances need to be upgraded individually
where SP4 is supported for that LOB app (check
with vendor)

- First login screen need to WAIT then select the
domain to log into - Re-enable anti-virus
- Do NOT run W2k3 SP1 Security Configuration Wizard
- Delete wxpsp1 folder under ClientApps folder

- Need to be logged in as the built in
administrator account (the 500 a/c) - DSRestore error messages
- Synchronisation of AD non-AD administrator
account password - Will be fixed soon

- Ensure Outlook 2003 is in the ClientApps folder
prior to the installation - If ISA 2000 firewall client was installed via GP
using MSI, uninstall from clients prior to ISA2k4
installation
