Instructions for Preparing Cases

• Any case that a student picks is to be researched
  through a law website
• Written case research papers will be due Sept 5th
  07 for on-line students

Format of Case

• Each paper must have a Title page listing the
  case presented, the course number, and the
  instructors name
• Any case must be typed and double spaced.
• Any case must be a minimum of 3 pages including
  the title page using 12 pt font
• Any discrepancies will result in points being
  deducted
• Any papers turned in that have been cut and
  pasted from the internet will be unacceptable and
  the grade will be an f
• Each paper must present the
• Facts
• Issues of the Case
• Law which may agree or overturn the case
• Reasoning of the court
• Extra Credit- Summarize the Judges dissenting
  opinion

Class PresentationRequired For Live Class Only
Not Online Students

• Each student will be required to present his/her
  case to the class on the dates listed in the
  syllabus in front of the class
• Students will be graded on oral presentation, any
  audio visuals used and individual effort
• Cases are to be presented stating the facts,
  issue, law, reasoning in a story fashion
• Reading a case from a paper will be unacceptable
• Students may use backboards, or PowerPoint and
  any handouts to enhance their presentation
• This will raise your score
