Title: All About Sound
1All About Sound
2What is Sound?
Sound is a form of energy. It is different
vibrations that are traveling through air which
people can hear with their ears. Sound waves can
travel through all matter gases, liquids, solids
and plasmas.
3How We Hear Sound
Sound waves are collected by the outer ear travel
down the ear canal to the eardrum. When the sound
hits the eardrum vibrations are made. Then the
three bones in the middle ear -- the malleus,
incus, and stapes (hammer, anvil and stirrup) --
move. Fluid in the inner ear transmits the
vibrations into the hearing organ, called the
cochlea.
4Where are the vibrations made in the ear?
- The Ear Canal
- The Cochlea
- The Stapes
- The Ear Drum
5WRONG!
Go back and review how we hear sound and try the
question again.
6CORRECT!
- Sound waves make their vibrations at the ear
drum.
