  • Keep a record of your activities for a few days
    and the amount of time they take

  • Dont underestimate the time they take

PRIORITIZE
  • From this list, define your priorities
  • This is essential for using your time, energy and
    resources well
  • Begin with the most important activities
  • Identify the tasks with the biggest pay-off, and
    spend more time on these

  • What could you stop doing or do less often?
  • What could you ask for help with?
  • What could you combine to save time?
  • Look for short cuts

  • Keep a schedule. Write in higher priorities
    first
  • Highlight deadlines in a calendar / day planner
  • Keep the schedule in a visible place

PROBLEM SOLVING
  • Split large tasks into smaller, more manageable
    ones e.g. writing a term paper is a big task.
    Break it down into research (reading /
    notetaking) outline, introduction, etc.
  • Set small goals which can be achieved more
    quickly e.g. each of the above becomes a
    mini-goal
  • Try to focus on one task at a time. This will
    help you to feel less overwhelmed and distracted

Problem solving continued..
  • Get organized Make short and long-term lists
  • Write things down and check them off when
    completed
  • Keep the task and self in perspective, and
    recognize what is out of ones control

RELAXATION
  • Make time for relaxation
  • Schedule family and social events, exercise etc.
  • Reward yourself as you get things accomplished
  • A regular short break can keep you motivated, and
    helps with energy and concentration

REALITY
  • Accept your limitations. You cant do
    everything, all of the time
  • Learn to say No
  • Try to keep things in perspective
  • You may have to temporarily lower your standards
    in some areas

RESPONSIBILITY
  • Take responsibility for yourself. Take control
    of your own direction
  • Keep your goals in mind set deadlines
  • Know your most productive times
  • Create or find a good work environment
  • Do what you can early on. Many things can be
    done before the last minute
  • Get started avoid procrastination
