3The widget
A widget is a new type of material used in
building portholes. The manufacturing process
involved in the preparation of widgets. The
process is drilling the holes into the portholes
This is a widget sheet after it has had the
holes drilled into it

5Critical Damping
At first our model was overturning on the first
turn in the movement stage which was under
damping. To correct this we had to lower the
output power of the motors in order to achieve
the correct angle of incidence. Then in the
second stage when turning backwards to return to
the home position the model was turning too
shallow resulting in over damping, to fix this we
changed the time of the turn so that it could
line up properly. By changing these settings we
have achieved correct operations and achieved
critical damping

10Collecting Information
Collecting The collecting process was a
complicated procedure, the RCX Lego unit is
programmed through an infrared scanner, much like
a barcode scanner which was linked to a computer.
The programmed data is manipulated or created
through robolab then the information is converted
transferred to the RCX unit through an inferred
scanner. The RCX unit then acknowledges the
information being sent through binary code, the
confirmation is then excepted by the computer
after being decrypted. The diagram below explains
the process.

11Processing information
The information is first created in robolab, then
after all the programming is completed is then
transmitted translated into binary to the RCX
unit. The programming is then tested, practically
through the RCX unit. Then the errors are tweaked
in robolab, the RCX is then re-programmed
re-tested until the programming is refined up to
standard. The main processing is all done through
robolab.
12Displaying information
The information processes are then displayed in
robolab through a step by step diagram, which
explains the process through symbols, Pictures
numbers. An example is listed below.
