Introduction
  • The following instructions are for browsing and
    purchasing books, videos or any other forms of
    entertainment media from Amazon.com. We will
    discuss the workings of the Amazon main website
    and show the user the basic navigational
    functions of the sight, to use its online payment
    processes, and troubleshoot help.
  • This website was designed so that any casual user
    may manipulate the site in hopes of finding
    materials (books, toys, other products) with ease
    on the web and be able to purchase them without
    the hassles of going to a store or waiting in
    long lines
  • Amazon is open 24 hours a day and is available
    for use anywhere in the world that can receive
    shipping via their shipping options.
  • For the users safety Amazon has provided a
    detailed payment process with protected sites for
    entering your credit card or other payment
    information without the fear of outside parties
    viewing this information.

Step 1 Opening the Website
  • Placing an order with Amazon.com is easy. Either
    double click on the Internet explorer icon or
    press start, go to programs and click on
    Internet explorer. (other Web brwosers may be
    used in the same way)
  • Go to the address bar and type www.amazon.com

Step 2 Finding Items
  • First you will need to browse or search for the
    items you would like to order. Keyword search
    boxes are located on nearly every page of the
    store.
  • Select the category you want to search for from
    the drop down menu or click the tab. For example
    from the drop down menu, select books.
  • Then type the name of the book or authors name
    in the second box and click Go.
  • If you have the ISBN number for a specific item,
    you can click on Advanced Search and enter the
    number.

Step 3 Finding Non-Book Items
  • Click on one of the outside store items found at
    the bottom of the page
  • Follow the instructions from step 2 (finding
    items). The search engine does not change for
    different item types

Step 4 Adding Items to Shopping Cart
  • Click the "Add to Shopping Cart" button on the
    item's product detail page.
  • Once you've added an item to your Shopping Cart,
    you can either click on Proceed to Checkout or
    the "Continue shopping" button to keep searching
    or browsing until your cart contains all of the
    items you want to order.
  • You can access the contents of your Shopping Cart
    at any time by clicking the Shopping Cart icon at
    the top of every page of the Web site.

Step 5 Proceed to Checkout
  • Review all of the items you've placed in your
    Shopping Cart. If you decide that you don't want
    to purchase a particular item right away, click
    the "save for later" button next to the title.
  • The item will move from your current Shopping
    Cart to the "Saved Items--To Buy Later" list
    below.
  • When you're ready to place an order for
    everything in the "Shopping Cart Items--To Buy
    Now" section of your cart, click the "Proceed to
    checkout" button.
  • You will be taken to the first page of the order
    form.

Step 6 Signing In
  • Enter your e-mail address, indicate that you are
    a new customer, and click the "Sign in" button.
  • Do not fill in the password field.
  • You will be asked to provide a password for your
    account later in the process.
  • Enter your Shipping address and select a shipping
    method. You will see estimated shipment and
    delivery dates in the e-mail.
  • The shipping charge for your order will be
    displayed on the order summary page just before
    you submit your order

Step 7 Provide a Password and Method of Payment
  • Choose a password for your account so that when
    you come back to Amazon.com in the future, you
    can use the same shipping address and method of
    payment you provided during this first order.
  • You will also be able to use your password to
    make changes to your order and account
    information.
  • Amazon accepts American Express, Diners Club,
    Discover, JCB, MasterCard, Euro card, Master
    Money, Visa, Visa Check Cards, Amazon.com gift
    certificates, or a check, money order, or
    cashier's check denominated in U.S. dollars and
    drawn on a U.S. bank.
  • If you're paying with a credit card, enter the
    number without spaces or dashes.

Step 8 Review and Submit Your Order
  • Check the accuracy all of the information you
    provided and make any necessary adjustments.
  • When you are ready, click the Place Your Order
    button to submit your order.
  • Once you place your order, you will receive a
    confirmation e-mail message.

Step 9 Tracking Your Order
  • If you would like to review or change something
    about the order you placed before it enters the
    shipping process, click the Your Account link
    in the top right corner of most pages on the web
    site.

  • Amazon is one of the easiest sights to navigate.
  • Its user friendly step by step process allows for
    novice users to navigate their site with ease.
  • Considered the most successful online shopping
    sites, Amazon is the site that most other online
    shopping websites try to imitate.
  • A User friendly interface was one of the primary
    concerns in designing the Amazons website.
