What is a Reptile?

• A Reptile is
• a vertebrate, they have scaly skin that keeps
  their bodies from drying out, they bask in the
  sun or find a warm spot to get warm and become
  active, and they must find shade or a cool spot
  to cool off.

Reptile Characteristics

• Reptiles
• Are cold blooded, some lay eggs, some give
  birth, and can be found on or off land.

Reptile Anatomy

• All reptiles are vertebrates, animals with
  backbones. Their bodies are covered with dry,
  horny scales or plates (called scutes). They are
  low to the ground, and all except snakes and a
  few lizards have four legs. Each has its own
  unique characteristics.
