41. Management Quality
IAQ-2008
1. MQ
Management Quality (MQ)
Quality of management activities for all
organizational processes for customer
satisfaction and global competitiveness
Processes
All kinds of activities of an organization
Excellent MQ
Best efficient MQ for creation of customer
value with low cost and maximized management
performance
S.H.PARK
5IAQ-2008
1. MQ
All management activities For an organization
Excellent management quality
Results
All processes of an organization
Maximized management performance for creation
of customer value with low cost
Realization of global competitiveness and
total customer satisfaction

1. MQ
Difference between MQ and QM
S.H.PARK
7IAQ-2008
1. MQ
Company activities of management are a continued
series of many processes
PROCESS
INPUT
OUTPUT
F(X) Y
Management activities
Activities to control processes
Activities of management quality
Activities to promote the quality level of
processes
Target of Six Sigma
Since the target of Six Sigma is to promote
each process to 6 sigma quality level, Six Sigma
implies activities of management quality.

1. MQ
Four critical elements of MQ
Quality, productivity cost
Globalization manpower

Tripitaka Koreana(????? ) In Koryo dynasty, Korea
750 years ago in Koryo dynasty in Korea, more
than 1,000 engravers(?? ) carved 52 million words
on 81,340 plates Amazing master-piece
This work was done before the initial printing
technology of Johannes Gutenberg of about 600
years ago.
Recently, the computerization of the Tripitaka
Koreana reveals that There is no single error or
missing words in the master-piece.
Such miraculous process quality of engraving
comes from devoted three bows after one word
engraving(????)).

11IAQ-2008
Business excellence
To be a leading company of business excellence
Excellent MQ for all processes, Quality
levels of all processes should be uniformly
good, (The variation of quality levels is
minimal.) Quality mind should be focused on
New Quality (process system
quality culture).

123. Data Technology(DT)
IAQ-2008
3. DT
Definition
Scientific methodology which deals with -- data
measurement, collection, storage, transmission
-- data analysis, and information creation from
data -- modeling from data, and prediction for
future.
It is known that the following 6Ts are the most
critical modern scientific technologies.
6T
IT
Information T.
ST
Space T.
BT
Bio T.
ET
Environment T.
NT
Nano T.
CT
Culture T.
However, DT is perhaps the most crucial
modern technology, since this century is the data
and information based knowledge society.
S.H.PARK
13IAQ-2008
3. DT
Data Technology (DT) is an important engine for
knowledge creation in this knowledge-based
Information society.
Knowledge creation is the most important basis
for national competitiveness.

Knowledge
The next society to come would be the wisdom
society. Reason God is wisdom and love. God
created human being in his own image (Genesis

154. Design for Six Sigma
4. Six Sigma
Five elements of Six Sigma Framework
- The five elements of Six Sigma are top management
commitment, training scheme, project team
activities, measurement system and stakeholder
involvement.
The corporate framework of Six Sigma

16 Six Sigma
DMAIC process in Six Sigma
- The most important methodology in Six Sigma
management is perhaps the formalized improvement
methodology characterized by DMAIC (define
-measure -analyze -improve -control) process.
Improvement phases
S.H.PARK, S.N.U. Seoul,Korea
17 Six Sigma
Project team activities
- In DFSS (Design for Six Sigma), there are several
proposed processes as follows. - DMAD(O)V (Define - Measure Analyze - Design
(Optimize) - Verify). DMADV is similar to DMAIC.
Recently, - IDOV (Identify - Design - Optimize - Validate).
This was suggested by GE and has been used most
frequently in practice. - Recently, DIDOV is more often used.
-
- DIDES (Define - Initiate - Design - Execute -
Sustain). - Most Korean companies use either DMADOV or DIDOV.

185. SAMSUNGS Global Excellence (Management
Innovation Story)
- The recent major management innovations in
Samsung - may be chronologically summarized as follows.
-
- - 1984 TQC/TPM (Total Quality Control /
Total - Productive Maintenance)
- - 1993 New Management / TQM
- - 1996 PI / ERP (Process innovation,
Enterprise - Resources Planning)
- - 2000 Six Sigma
- - 2007 Creative Management
- New Management was the management philosophy
- of quality is the top priority among all aspects
of company outputs.
19Chairmans Message (on June 7, 1993)
Quality First - Samsung will consider defects
as a crime. - Change our priority from volume to
quality.
Change to Survive - Change everything except
wife and children. - Change starts from me
with small things.
DONT STAY STILL
20Samsungs preparation for the future
Our goal is to increase worlds number 1
products up to 30 by the year 2006 The key
Success Factors are?People, quality
technologies?!! (Gun Hee Lee, Chairman ,2001.7
)
- Top Talents
- Quality first
- Frontier Technologies
- through RD
We have to preoccupy the market by identifying
what we can do the best for next 510 years.
The focus should be on the leading edge
technologies and top talents(2002. 4)

25 A Strategic Technology Roadmap
- The strategic technology roadmap
- is a focused picture of technology
- advances that relate specifically
- to the companys product and
- market focuses.
- It shows advances over time
- It highlights technologies
- relative to targeted products
- and markets
- It shows the possibilities of
- technology advances
TR take a long-range look at technologies. TR is
updated annually.
