As it may be different in some countries, let us
define who is a Rotex in this presentation
Who is a ROTEX? ROTEX member is a former Rotary
Youth Exchange student that has lived abroad for
one year (Long Term Program)

District OB student orientation sessions
Rotex students, previously selected both by
Rotex Directory Rotary, are invited to
attend 2nd week-end of OB Student Orientation,
which happens in a resort out of town

They meet with OB students going to same
countrythey had lived as YE talk about about
its culture, daily life, school system, clothing
and money.
They also alert about drugs, sex, drink, abuse,
host country laws and anything that may put YE
in trouble. They do it on their own way, own
words.

Crisis management
When there is a crisis abroad and we need
someone to speak the local language, we call a
Rotex who lived in that country to participate
in the team who is dealing with the crisis.

Similarly, if we have an inbound student in
trouble who does not speak well our language, we
would also call a ROTEX.
It may be helpful to have a Rotex who lived in
the YE home country in certain situations of
crisis with an inbound student.

The common sense
Each student is different. Each crisis is
different. There is no standard criteria for a
situation that comes within a crisis. Here,
there or anywhere.

Debriefing Session for rebound students
A highlight of RYEP in D-4760, the orientation
for the returned students have been used for 12
ys.
Its a half-day meeting where only former RYE
participate. Including Rotarians.

The rebound students meet Rotex kids and realize
they have a lot in common. Including the
same difficulties of re-adjusting at home on
return.

a MUST for all YEO

District Conference sessions on RYEP
Every DISCON we invite ROTEX to attend. They are
very efficient to help selling YEP to
Rotarians. Specially for those who know nothing
(or little) about RYEP do not like it.

Besides the above, it is always rewarding to
have those former YE around us Rotarians. They
are very likely to become Rotarians. IN fact,
good Rotarians to be!

Promote Rotary Youth Exchange Program
After returning from exchange year, ROTEX are
invited by RC for a presentation at Rotary
meeting.

Everyone of these students has a potential to be
a live marketing tool for this Rotary Program.
Use it.
It is often happening that former YE (ROTEX) are
joining Rotary as members. This is also a step
for them to become a YEO.

Rotex students may be a very good group to to
look out for future ROTARIANS
They know Rotary (often very well) They had
already lived Rotary spirit for one year
