Going to the Countryside

• In 1939 World War 2 began.
• All the children were evacuated to the
  countryside to live with someone else.
• They often got there by train.

Getting picked

• The children dressed smartly so they were picked
  and ended up in a nicer homes.
• Children wore name tags in case they got lost.

Separated

• Most families were separated during the war.
• The men would go off to fight even if they didnt
  want to.
• The ladies would often have to help injured
  people and do many others jobs as well.
• The children would go to the countryside.

Growing up at War

• Life for many children went on much as usual,
  even if their school roof had been blown off by a
  bomb!
• Babies learned to walk and talk.
• Children went to school and played with their
  friends.

Together Again

• British children got used to American soldiers
  and people from other countries.
• In 1945, people celebrated the end of the war
  with parades.
