15Strategic Thinking The Natural Environment
So far.
Looking good for the protection and enhancement
for the future in terms of strategic planning and
control of development.
What about priorities for the Community as a
whole.?
16Strategic Thinking The Natural Environment
Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) Warrington
Partnership

Sustainable

Independence

Improve the Local Environment Economy and
Regenerate our Deprived Areas

Opportunity to Reach Their Potential
Transform our Organisation to Deliver our Outcomes
18Strategic Thinking The Natural Environment
But.
Community Strategy
Priority to take action to improve and conserve
the natural environment is only one element of
64 Priority Actions
Draft Corporate Plan 2006-2010
91 Specific Steps and Actions to achieve the five
community based ambitions, but Only 1 Specific
action relating to safety in parks and open
spaces
19Strategic Thinking The Natural Environment
Difficult to promote biodiversity improvements
and actions in this scenario. Not a current high
priority for resources generally because. The
Strategies and Plans have to take account of
competing priorities and the overall needs of the
community... - Affordable houses - Employment
for the disadvantaged - Tackling Traffic
Congestion - Acute health problems and social
care - Crime and Anti Social Behaviour -
Education Needs
20Strategic Thinking The Natural Environment
What do we do next? We need to make the most of
the ability of our partners to deliver positive
improvements. We must harness as much as we can
through new development. We must continue to try
and raise the profile of the importance of
Biodiversity to Quality of Life. People didnt
use to think much about climate change
either..but ask them about it now!
21Strategic Thinking The Natural Environment
We must not forget. NATURE MATTERS
