2004-05 successes Case 1
  • Report 359 Failed Asylum Seeker
  • Investigation involved 2 North West LAs and Job
    Centre Plus
  • Guilty to obtaining money by deception,
    possessing a false passport, procuring an
    advantage to gain employment and a council
    property
  • To serve 20 months imprisonment

2004-05 successes Case 2
  • A nurse who went off sick in July 2004, but was
    on a NFI report as also working full time for a
    London borough with a start date of July 2004.
    The Trust also believes this person has provided
    a false passport.
  • A doctor who worked on rotation for two
    hospitals, but was also found to be working
    fulltime for an agency using his wifes bank
    details. The Trust is reclaiming one years
    salary.
  • A health care assistant who found to have four
    posts covering two health bodies and a London
    borough from 2002 to date. Shifts appear to be
    overlapping and possible identity fraud issue.
    This case has been passed to CFSMS due to size of
    case.
  • A non-surgical consultant was given an unpaid
    career break to work abroad, but was working for
    two other health bodies while he was supposed to
    be abroad and for an overlapping period when he
    was back with the Trust. This is a breach of
    contract case.

  • Highlighting lots of housekeeping issues
  • Data extraction needs to be improved for 2006/07
  • Mandatory for all Local Government and much of NHS
