2Rubber gives a better feeling
Inside a Softball Bat
Provides a lighter weight for better control and
bat speed.
Gripping
Does not break like wood.
Rubber absorbs more shock
Aluminum
Added to the thinner-wall, so the bats can be
lighter.
Help reduces vibration
Graphite and Titanium Lining
3Properties of Rubber
Properties Aluminum
Properties of Titanium
Symbol-Al Atomic Weight27 Metallic and
slivery Used in bats because it provides a light
weight for better control.
Symbol-Ti Atomic Weight-48 Slivery metallic Used
because it helps reduce vibration.
Hard texture malleable usually black flexible used
because it absorbs more shock
4How a softball bat is made!
1.) The metal is shipped from factory 2.) It is
molded into a desired shape 3.) It is dipped in
preserve 4.) The color logo is added 5.) Lacquer
finish is put on 6.) Hung on a dip line 7.)Boxed
and Shipped around the world.
5Where does Aluminum Come From?
----Aluminums first stage is Bauxite
It is mined in Africa, Brazil,Jamaica,Guyana, and
Australia
---Aluminums second is Alumina. It is turned
into a white powdery material that looks like
sugar. This is the complex process of
grinding, settling, and heating.
6History of Aluminum Bats
Aluminum bats started to have a big impact on
baseball and softball in the early 1970s.
They learned quickly that bats with rounded
barrels seemed to work the best.
Softball bats in the early days of softball came
in all shapes and sizes.
Batters in the 1850s made their own bats, and
they experimented with bats of all varieties.
7Changes Since the First Softball Bat
Now it is made out of aluminum and other alloy
metals.
The first softball bat was made out of wood.
The first softball bats were all different sizes
and shapes.
Softball bats are now barrel shapes.
8Softball Bats In Ten Years...
We dont think softball bats will change much in
ten years because they are suitable for the
purpose that we use them for. But everything
has room for improvement. The only way we think
they will change is if they are made out of
different materials that are stronger and cheaper
to make.
