Why a 3-digit Coding System
The use of the primary and secondary dimensions
may lead to 12 digits. This is highly impractical!
More than 3-digits are too expensive and useless
for EDI purposes (mail order) and future
communications!
3-digit code is easily to remember and without
risk of confusion with the actual sizes and
worldwide useable
3-digits are enough to indicate all measurements
as indicated on the pictograms!
All codes are shown in size tables and easily to
find and to combine!
10SIZE CODING
!
Most important requirements
- three digit code based on body dimensions
- logical system based on numbers
- same code for consumers and electronic data
transfer
within the garment chain
- only one code per garment
- exceptions bras, stockings, socks, gloves, head
wear - application in all European countries
Need of flexibility for using primary secondary
dimensions (EN 13402-2 )
Sizetables need flexibility in shifting waist and
hip two positions to the left and right per bust
or chest as well as the choice of height (prEN
13402-3)
11Size tables
How to read and use
- Starting point of the coding system is prEN
13402-3 on measurements and intervals
The tables are composed like a distance table on
a map
Everyone can easily read his or her size
It is easy - for each country or company to use
only a part of it
- to show the table or a part of it on a card or
in a catalogue
- to use and show different tables for different
target groups

choose one horizontal row right of the selected
hip
find the first 2 digits at the intersection of
row and column
