Navy Nurse Programs

• There are three ways to receive a commission in
  the US Navy Nurse Corp
• The Nurse Candidate Program
• Direct Accession
• Navy reserves

Nurse Candidate Program (NCP)

• Financial incentive to nursing students enrolled
  in a 4 year BSN degree program
• Upon completion of your degree will commission as
  an Ensign, Nurse Corp

Nurse Candidate Program

• Benefits
• A signing bonus of 10K
• 1,000.00 a month stipend while in school until
  graduation (max 24 months)

Nurse Candidate Program

• Eligibility requirements
• Meet basic military entrance requirements
• US Citizen
• Complete the 2nd year of degree and have more
  than 6 months prior to graduating
• Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
• Must be at least 18 years of age and able to
  complete 20 years of active commissioned service
  by age 62

Nurse Candidate Program

• Obligated Service
• Candidates who enter in their 4th year of nursing
  school will agree to serve for 4 years
• Candidates who enter in their 3rd year of nursing
  school will agree to serve for 5 years
• Total military obligated service is eight years

Direct Accession Nurse

• A direct accession nurse has completed their 4
  year degree and has their license
• Will receive a sign on bonus of
• 15K 3yr active duty
  commitment
• 25K 4yr active duty
  commitment
• Will commission as an Ensign, Nurse corp
• Eight year total obligation - remainder served as
  a reservist

Reserve Nurse

• To be eligible for a Reserve Commission you must
• Meet basic military requirements
• Maximum age 42 years old
• Have a 4 year BSN degree and a Nurse license
• Have workforce experience as a Nurse

Reserve Nurse

• Work two 8 hour days a month
• Work 12 days of active duty each year
• Pass Physical readiness test twice a year

Reserve Nurse

• Commissary privileges
• Low cost life insurance
• VA Home loan program

Reserve Nurse

• Earn a robust retirement
• 100 medical coverage upon retirement
• Earn four days of pay for 2 days of work
