Strong Action Learning history in South East
In delivering the Management Development through
Action Learning project in 2007/8
  • 171 delegate applications were received
  • 15 Action Learning programmes were delivered
  • 76 businesses were involved in the project
  • 116 managers, leaders and deputies participated
    in the programmes
  • 105 managers completed the programme
  • 43 businesses were represented at the Masterclass
    and 63 people attended

Action Learning Proposal
  • Issue Staff turnover has reduced the pool of
    Action Learning knowledgeable people in SSCs.
  • Organise pilot course for SSC staff based on CMI
    Award in Managing Action Learning delivered by
    Forward Together.
  • This Award is worth 6 Credits towards a
    Certificate in Managing Coaching and Mentoring
    with CMI.
  • Currently rolling out to 500 staff in the Justice
    area. Organised by Skills for Justice. Financial
    support from Women at Work fund and others.
  • Build series of business-issue templates.

Areas of focus
  • Contribute to UK-wide Leadership by Developing a
    Strategic Driving Force
  • Develop a Strategic Group a partnership between
    the UKCES, the Alliance of SSCs, a selected
    number of Professional Bodies and the M and L
    Forum of SSCs
  • Support think tank exploration of innovative ways
    to raise ML development and aspiration
  • 2. Work effectively with Partners and
    Stakeholders
  • Where appropriate, develop an arrangement with
    the Strategic Group to jointly commission work
    (for example the relationship with the MSC )
  • Liaise with the UK LM Network group to ensure
    our strategy is in broad agreement with partners
    and stakeholders
