Title: Plan of Action for Engineers week 20072008

1
Plan of Action for Engineers week 2007-2008
  • ENGINEERS WEEK IS
  • February 19th 22nd

2
  • Objective Formulate an effective plan to
organize and coordinate Engineers Week, a series
of student oriented functions over a time span of
    4 days, February 19th 22nd

3
Approach
  • Using information gathered from Engineering
Societies, create a detailed timeline with
important events, deadlines and milestones in
order to manage and assess the progress of
    Engineers Week.

4
Expected Results
  • Through this plan of action, we will achieve a
    successful Engineers Week that is

5
A successful E-week?
  • What is a Successful E-week?
  • a SUCCESSFUL Engineers Week will allow all
    participating parties (Students, Engineering
Societies, and corporate sponsors) to walk away
    with a positive experience.

6
DefineWhat kind of events do we want to hold?
  • Events that attract the most amount of people.
  • We want events to be as inclusive as possible and
that bring together the most amount of engineers
    from different focuses, at once.
  • This entails

7
  • Events will be Entertaining.
  • Why would anyone want to go to a boring event?
  • Events will be beneficial.
  • Engineers will gain something from going to
    event.
  • Event will be time well spent. (EVENT W.O.W.)
  • Events will be accessible for students.

8
Who are we going to attract?
  • Students
  • Societies
  • Professors/faculty
  • Alumni
  • Corporate sponsors

9
Corporate Committee
  • We have over 20 excited individuals working on
contacting and bringing in corporate sponsors for
    E-week.
  • They will be direct liaisons between us and the
corporate sponsors, so that we can have a smooth
transition of bringing corporate sponsors to
    events.

PASAE
  • I likecampus wide capture the flag
  • Bonfire/Picnic (Grouped as one or the other)
  • screen on the green (this is a movie right?)
  • broomball
  • 1) I think engineers would be most entertained
with parties.2) I think engineers would be most
attracted to movie-events (like hella nerdy
shit)3) Most beneficial would definitely be a
    professional night or something

15
TBP
  • 1. Broomball, Engineers makeover/date auction,
    SPAC, Game night2. Entertaining
    HypnotistAttractive Engineering Sports
    NightBeneficial Professional Development
Workshops / Networking / Panel with Industrial
ContactsAlso, HKN and TBP are thinking of
holding our Intersociety sports night during
E-Week if possible. It will depend somewhat on
Maxwell field availability which can be volatile
at times. Let me know if you forsee any problems
with this. We'll make sure to coordinate with the
other E-Week events as to ensure no overlapping
    times.

16
ASME
  • So ASME thought of something not on the list
that we would like to do asour Night Event. We
would like to do the Screen on the Green, but
we'dlike to expand on it by making it a carnival
night (i.e. there will be ascreen on the green,
popcorn machine, cotton candy, makeshift games to
winASME t-shirts, etc). If that gets shot down,
we'll think of somethingelse. My officers aren't
too fond of the ideas on the list /Anyways, to
answer the other questionsENTERTAINING - purely
    just hanging outATTRACTING - free
    foodBENEFICIAL - uh...have fun?

17
IIE
  • Top 4 choices1. Wine cheese with grad
    students2. Screen on the Green3. Inter-societal
triathlon (engineering focused) - don't know what
this means, but it could be cool4. Clubbing in
    SFENTERTAINING KaraokeATTRACTIVE Ping pong
    tournament BENEFICIAL Any social activities
    with employers/representativesNote Bowling,
ultimate frisbee, ping pong tournament, touch
    football, volleyball, badminton, tennis, and
other sports activities like that would be really
    cool.

18
SWE
  • The four events Bonfire, Clubbing in SF, Wine
and Cheese with Grad Students and Paintball.
  • Entertaining and Attractive ones that involve
either competition or professors doing crazy
    things (think dunk tank...).
  • Beneficial would be events that reach out the
community (both campus and beyond) to show them
the importance of engineering and what we do.
    Hope that helps!

19
BMES
  • Entertaining Engineering Pageant at a formal
    event (like homecoming)
  • ATTRACT Lan Party
  • Beneficial Lecture series

25
HES
  • 1)BonfireClubbing Screen on the GreenBroom
ball2) We are all used to the technical events
so I think a social one would be a good idea and
the most entertaining. As far as what kind, maybe
something like bowling or attending a sporting
event.  I think that as far as most beneficial, a
social event, again, would be the best idea. It
would not only give everyone a good break from
school but would also help in the formation of
    new study groups.
