Portable Fire Extinguishers

• The SCARNG provides portable fire extinguishers
  for your use in extinguishing small fires when
  the action can be done safely.
• Proper selection. You must know the proper type
  of extinguisher to use on a specific fire. The
  main classes of fire extinguishers are
• Class - general combustibles such as wood
  or paper
• Class - flammable liquids and gas fires
• Class - electrical fires
• Class - flammable metals
• Class - kitchen (grease) fires
• Use. When operating an extinguisher, remember
  PASS (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep)
• Pull the pin from the handle
• Aim the extinguisher nozzle at the base of the
  fire
• Squeeze the handle to begin the flow of
  extinguishing agents
• Sweep the nozzle slowly from side to side
• Inspection, Maintenance, Testing.
• External visual inspections are conducted monthly
  and documented on the attached tag
• Annual maintenance checks are conducted by a
  trained person
• Units are hydrostatically tested by a trained
  person
