What is this world watch all about?

• I decided each week to look at key events that
  had happened in that week and look at them with
  the Bible in hand.
• I hope to build up a picture of Gods hand working
  in the affairs of this world bringing about that
  day when all nations will be gathered to
  Jerusalem to battle which will be brought to end
  when the Lord Jesus Christ physically returns
  from heaven to set up Gods kingdom.
• The key areas which will crop up time and again
  will be
• Israel Middle East the growing conflict
• Europe the developing union / political and
  religious
• Russia continued turning back to anti west ways
• The development of King of South US UK
• Declining moral standards and increasing violence.

• Weekly Developments
• These are just a few of the events that have
  caught my eye in the previous week. It is in no
  way meant to be exhaustive just a look at those
  events I saw as significant from a Bible
  viewpoint.
• Headlines
• These are always headlines printed in the
  newspaper the date is always given and which
  paper. Normally the Daily Telegraph. (DT)
• Event
• This is usually the newspapers take on the events
  that have happened. It will always be a direct
  quote from the newspaper.
• Comment
• This is my take on why it is interesting from a
  Bible point of view. The idea of this weekly
  world watch is to give a quick Biblical
  perspective without going into detail. If more
  detail is needed please email me.
• Bible Quote
• This is normally one verse which backs up why the
  event that has occurred is interesting from a
  Biblical perspective. Please read in its context.

Pakistan earthquake toll 38,000

• Headline

• Pakistan's government has said it now believes
  more than
  38,000 of its people were killed by the
  earthquake a week ago.
• The U.S. Geological Survey data indicates
  earthquake occurrences are increasing. In 2000,
  there were 22,256 recorded earthquakes worldwide.
  That number has steadily increased to 31,199
  earthquakes in 2004.
• Comment
• The earthquake last Saturday has turned out to be
  Pakistans worst ever disaster according to its
  President. There are still hundreds of villages
  that have not been entered yet since the
  earthquake and the number of deaths is still
  expected to rise.
• Note as well the statement above from the US
  Geological survey who show that the number of
  earthquakes in the world are on the rise.
• The table in top right hand corner shows the top
  10 killer earthquakes in the last 100 years.
  Notice how 5 of them have occurred in the last 5
  years. As we said last week the contractions in
  respect of the labour pains of the world are
  getting closer together and more severe. It
  heralds Christs return.

Iran puts radicals in charge

• Iran puts radicals in charge of nuclear programme

• Iran's new hardline president has placed his
  country's nuclear programme
  under the control of militant commanders of
  the Revolutionary
  Guards, the military's most committed wing.
• Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who has launched a purge of
  moderates in national and provincial government
  since his election two months ago, has drafted in
  fellow radical revolutionaries to top
  administrative posts - a move that will heighten
  Western fears over Iran's nuclear ambitions.
• Comment
• Iran continues almost on a weekly basis to harden
  its stance towards the West. The fact the
  President of Iran has put militant commanders in
  charge of the country's nuclear project will
  further alarm the US.
• You may have noticed that the previous slide on
  earthquakes had a quote taken from Isaiah 13.
  This is an interesting chapter as it seems to be
  to be a running commentary on current events. It
  talks of nations coming to Babylon (modern Iraq)
  and destroying the land. It talks of God judging
  the world. And it also talks of God stirring up
  the Medes. (modern Iran). We are witnessing these
  very things.

  silver and as for gold, they shall not delight
  in it.

Bird flu raises EU fears

• h5n1, is a deadly avian-flu virus that has
  ravaged Southeast Asia's poultry
  flocks and infected over 100
  people since the end of 2003. If h5n1
  became established among
  migratory species, it would raise the risk that
  the virus could be spread across oceans and
  continents. Understanding just how the viral
  transmission belt operates "is urgent work for
  the entire world," Guan told Time recently,
  speaking in his office at the University of Hong
  Kong (H.K.U.). "The virus could go to Europe, and
  from there to India. These questions are critical
  not just for science, but for humankind."
• If that sounds like an alarmist's hype, it's not.
  For some time, health experts have warned of a
  worldwide bird-flu pandemic that could kill
  millions of people and wreck the global economy.
  "The most serious known health threat facing the
  world is avian flu," said who director general
  Dr. Lee Jong-wook earlier this year.
• Comment
• Even as I write this WWW the BBC has just
  reported that this virus has just been confirmed
  to be found in Europe (Romania) for the first
  time. It is the same lethal strain found in Asia.
  We live in a time of earthquake and pestilence
  (plague).

• 200 Chechen gunmen launch assault on city

• Event
• Chechen rebels attacked police and army buildings
  in south Russia yesterday in a brazen operation
  that killed dozens and challenged Kremlin claims
  that it controls the Caucasus. Up to 200
  guerrillas launched an audacious assault on
  symbols of the Russian state, from the local
  airport to the security service's headquarters,
  in Nalchik, capital of the mainly Muslim republic
  of Kabardino-Balkaria.
• Russian soldiers fought to regain control,
  arresting several rebels. At least 49 people, 25
  of them militants, were killed in the fighting,
  the worst to hit the region since Chechen
  terrorists seized a school in Beslan in nearby
  North Ossetia a year ago.
• Comment
• Many ancient sources have clearly identified
  "Magog" as referring to the "Scythians"
• which were the ancestors of the Russians. A well
  known source is Josephus Flavius, who records
  that the Magogians were called "Scythians" by the
  Greeks.
• "Magog founded the Magogians, thus named after
  him, but who were by the Greeks called Scythians.
  But even the Scythians, who delight in murdering
  people and are little better than wild beasts,
  nevertheless think it their duty to uphold their
  national customs." - Josephus Flavius, 1st
  century A.D. The area of Magog is around Southern
  Russia and especially the Caucasus region. It is
  here that Russia is having great trouble with
  Muslim extremists who want to break away. However
  we are told that Gog is of the land of Magog.
  Russia will be in control of this area and will
  almost certainly descend through it on the way to
  Israel.

Moscow arms Assad

• Event
• Two generals were in Moscow on the same day,
  September 26 the head of Israels National
  Security Council Maj.-Gen Giora Eiland and the
  Syrian chief of staff General Ali Habib. Both
  also called on the Russian chief of staff, Gen.
  Yuri Baluyevski. The Syrian general came out of
  his meeting with a brilliant contract for the
  sale of the advanced Iskander SS-26 surface
  missile. The Israeli general ran into a blank
  wall when he tried to persuade the Russian to
  withhold the missile from the Assad regime. Last
  January, when the deal was first broached, the
  Bush administration stepped in and obtained a
  promise from president Vladimir Putin to call off
  the sale, as did Israels Ariel Sharon during the
  Russian presidents visit in May. Putin has
  broken those pledges. The missiles will be
  delivered early 2006.
• Comment
• This is not just any old missile. The US and NATO
  have nothing to match its unique attributes. It
  is called the Iskander (after Alexander the
  Great!). It is almost impossible for existing
  electronic equipment to prevent its launch
  because of its speed and flexibility. It is
  deadly accurate. One missile expert has said that
  this missile is capable of radically changing the
  balance of strength in local conflict. Syria has
  paid Russia in cash to ensure speedy delivery in
  early 2006.

  hath seized on her Syria (Damascus) however will
  wax feeble!

Churchs last rites

• Churches near last rites, says Carey

• Event
• Britain's Churches are in such serious decline
  that if they were shops, they
  would have been declared bankrupt long
  ago, Lord Carey, the former
  archbishop of Canterbury, said last night.
• In a bleak assessment of the future of
  Christianity in this country, he said that the
  Churches were approaching meltdown and the "last
  rites" could be administered at any moment.
• Comment
• Britains Churches are spiritually bankrupt. They
  have given heed to seducing spirits and the
  doctrines of devils. They speak lies in
  hypocrisy. Is it any wonder that they cannot
  attract an audience. They offer no light only
  darkness. They offer no truth only lies. It is
  this Church that has ordained woman, that has
  accepted many of the falsehoods of Rome
  (including the increasing worship of Mary), that
  has openly homosexual clergy and much else
  besides. All these devilish doctrines come from
  worldly thinking. It is a madness. Note the link
  with devils and the froglike spirits in Rev 1614
  As James writes in Chapter 127 Pure religion is
  keeping ourselves unspotted from the world. Let
  us reject devilish doctrines and hold onto the
  TRUTH.
