• Muscular Dystrophy (MD) names a group of 9
  different variations of a disease that is
  characterized by the deterioration of muscle
  fibers.
• Duchenne MD (DMD) is the form that affects mainly
  children, ages 2 to 6.
• It is found on the X-chromosome and is therefore
  more prominent in boys.

• Symptoms
• waddling walk
• arched back forward thrusted stomach
• enlarged calves
• weakening muscles in legs and arms
• abnormal joints
• breathing problems
• heart problems
• spine curvature

• Discovered by Guillaume-Benjamin-Amant Duchenne
• Result of deletion of alteration in a part of the
  X-chromosome this part has the information to
  make dystrophin.
• Diagnosis by checking the walk, isolating
  muscles, family history, muscle biopsy,
  electromyography, and chemical testing.

• There is no actual cure but somewhat of a
  treatment.
• The drug prednisone can work, but it has many
  negative side effects.
• Exercise, physical therapy, and surgery can help
  as well.
