• Basic Requirements
• Computer
• Access to the Internet
• Printer (only if y ou want to print your e-mail.
• E-mail software
• Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express or Windows
  Mail (commercial)
• Eudora (commercial)
• Thunderbird (Free)
• Web-based e-mail (Yahoo Mail or G-mail)

Learn the Capabilities of Software

• Spend some time learning the basics of whatever
  e-mail system you have available for you to use.
• Learn how to set the basics i.e. send, read, and
  delete e-mail
• Also learn the basics of how to set up address
  books, archive your old e-mail, etc.

What about Spam?

• Its almost impossible to avoid all Spam.
• You have to learn how to manage it using the
  tools available in your browser or Internet
  Service Providers (or your e-mail providers)
  programs of choice.
• Most Internet Security Suites provide some sort
  of protection against spam and security threats.

Basic E-mail Etiquette

• Summarize your message in the Title line of the
  e-mail.
• Keep your message short and focused.
• Avoid using all capital letters!!
• Dont write anything you wouldnt say in public.
• Avoid sending messages to large groups of people
  (Unless you have reason to do it.)
