Title: Corps Water Management System CWMS Modernization

1
Corps Water Management System (CWMS) Modernization
2
Water Management Mission
  • Regulate river flow from 700 Corps projects to
    provide national benefits.
  • Achieve purposes specified in authorizing
    legislation.
  • Multiple interests Corps officials, public,
    stakeholders, interest groups open process.
  • Operation plans codified in reservoir regulation
    manuals fields bible.

3
Water Management Operations
  • Hundreds of water management decisions made every
    day, nation-wide.
  • Reservoir releases, power generation, structure
    operations.
  • System-wide issues flood fighting,
    environmental management, partnering, public,
    etc.
  • Normal conditions routine floods/ emergencies
    complex, many participants.

4
Corps Water Management System
  • CWMS is the data acquisition, management,
modeling and decision support system that
supports the Corps it its water management
mission of regulating dam and reservoir projects.
  • CWMS is a nationwide integrated system of
hardware, software, and other resources that
acquires, analyzes, and stores data develops
decision support information and allows user
access to any data and information on the system.
