Volunteer TestimonialsLinda Sebock- Training and
Development Senior Manager White Castle System,
Inc.
  • I must admit that being a volunteer last year was
very intimidating at first. I felt like a kid on
the first day of school attending the summer
meeting in Atlanta. Will I fit in? Will they like
me? Will I make some friends? Can I add value to
the group? Will I like being a volunteer?  And
without a doubt the answers were  YES! YES! YES!
YES! YES! And within minutes I felt like I found
my place, and we did meaningful work throughout
the year and made a difference in the
organization. I have attended WFF conferences
before but, this last one, after the year of
volunteering was the best yet! And I cannot wait
for conference 2010 and our year ahead as a
    committee working together.

32
Stephanie Bailey- Market ManagerGeneral Mills
Foodservice
  • My volunteer time with WFF over the last eight
years has been a highlight of my thirty plus year
career in Foodservice even more in developing
my growth as a leader. As I have been part of
three different committees, it has given me the
chance to see other women leaders in action
(sometimes excellent, sometimes an Aha! moment I
was not expecting) and very instrumental in my
willingness to step up and take on additional
    responsibility as a Volunteer.
  • The people I have met, those I have become
friends with, those I have collaborated with to
enhance the WFF experience for others, are too
numerous to mention here but each hold a special
place within me. Of course, as each person at WFF
mentions, I have learned more than I have given.
  • The volunteering experience forced me to really
look at our competencies and take the time to see
where I needed to increase my skills to deliver
on my WFF commitments, career commitments,
where I could use these skills in my personal
life. I am now willing to speak in front of
groups and offer my opinion and know others will
    listen and offer good feedback.
  • Since Chairing the Volunteer Development
committee, I now have the confidence to accept a
Board membership for my home owners association
feel confident in making decisions with five
other members for our 173 homeowners.
  • Take the chance, step up offer to do more than
    you think possible.

Committee Charter
  • Charter Definition
  • What
  • char ter a document setting forth the aims and
    principles of a united group
  • A committee/task force charter is a written
agreement which defines the committee/task force,
establishes its purpose, clarifies the authority,
and provides the committee/task force direction
for its activities and how to do their collective
    work.
  •
  • Why
  • Just as a boat needs a charted course, the
charter provides clear direction to the
committee/task force members on all aspects of
their journey together. A committee/task force is
more likely to succeed if they have clarity and
    agreement about
  • what they are to accomplish why they exist
  • who they are responsible to
  • what the committee/task force can and cannot do
  • what the key tasks or responsibilities are
