Title: Opening Prayer

1
Opening Prayer
  • Before lesson
  • Dear Father, when I discover how you describe me
by nature--dead in sin, blind to your ways, and
your enemy--I see the miracle it took to make me
your child. My faith in your Son is the most
important thing I own, and it's all your gift to
me. Help me to learn today how your Holy Spirit
can make my faith stronger and how it changes
everything about my life. You set me apart for
yourself. At times I forget that and I try to
blend in with others who don't know what you've
done, who you are or maybe just don't care. I'm
sorry for that. Show me today how foolish and
dangerous that is. I never want you to lose your
hold on me. Help me to put into practice what I
learn today from your Word. In Jesus' name, Amen.

present age, 13while we wait for the blessed
hope--the glorious appearing of our great God and

Application Questions
  • Some people claim that in order to be Christians
they had to make a decision for Christ. (Thats
why Billy Graham titled his monthly magazine
Decision.) Give several reasons why may not be
appropriate to say that we make a decision for
    Christ.

40

  • Which of these things do you consider the most
important and why God created you, Christ
redeemed you, or the Holy Spirit brought you to
    faith?

48
Application Questions
  • Evaluate this statement Since the Holy Spirit
brings people to faith only by the gospel in his

    we do.

49
Application Questions

than ours because he was a persecutor of
    Christians.

Key Truths
  • Lesson Ten
  • By nature we are DEAD in sin, ENEMIES of God and
BLIND to God's message. Faith in Jesus is a GIFT
of God that comes to me through the GOSPEL. The
person of the triune God who is in charge of this
work is the HOLY SPIRIT. The work of the Holy
Spirit is called CONVERSION (being turned around)
or REGENERATION (being born again). Don't push
the Spirit away by neglecting his Word, but be
FILLED with the Spirit by using God's word in
    worship.
