Title: The governments vision
1The governments vision
- My vision is one where schools are confidently,
successfully and routinely exploiting ICT By
doing so they will be delivering an education
that equips learners for life in the Information
Age of the 21st century. - ICT can make a significant contribution to
teaching and learning at all stages and across
all areas of the curriculum. ICT should be
embedded in all our education institutions and in
the teaching that takes place there - Rt Hon Charles Clarke, MP, former Secretary of
State for Education and Skills, June 2003
2Why do schools use ICT?
- Extending learning
- Enriching the curriculum
- Expanding learning horizons
- Helping with assessment
3- I was nervous about working with ICT as I
thought it would change the way I work with
pupils. I soon found there was nothing to worry
about. In fact, I found that the support I was
able to give to help them learn in the subjects I
was working with was better than without the use
of ICT - (TA working in a secondary school)
4Supporting the use of ICT resources
- Helping students make best use of ICT
- Using ICT to enhance teaching and learning across
the curriculum - Giving students access to the curriculum through
ICT
5- I support in PE and I set up the ICT equipment
while the pupils are getting changed so the
lesson starts smoothly - One of the things I now do as a matter of
course is check that all the printers are working
before the lesson, then I can get the technician
to sort out any problems before the pupils need
the equipment
6- I was surprised at how confident most pupils
were when they were using ICT. They had already
learnt how to use the computers in their ICT
lessons
