What we do
  • We provide drop-in support for women, young
  • people and children who have experienced
  • domestic abuse.
  • Each client is given an individually
  • tailored package of support.

Venus
  • Venus is a Programme of help and support
  • for women who have been abused.
  • Our Venus Programme is a 6 weekly
  • Session lasting two hours.
  • Venus is open to women of all ages including
    those in
  • same-sex relationships, who have experienced
    domestic
  • abuse in any of its forms including physical,
    emotional,
  • sexual, social and economic abuse.

  • Beliefs they hold about women
  • How you become a victim
  • Cycles and patterns of domestic abuse
  • The effects of domestic abuse on children
  • Venus also enables-
  • Women to self empower
  • Understand their rights
  • Increase self esteem and self confidence
  • Develop assertiveness skills

Leapfrog
  • Leapfrog is a Programme for children aged 5-11
    who need
  • help in overcoming their experiences of domestic
    abuse.
  • Leapfrog sessions are held on one night a week
    for a
  • duration of 14 weeks.
  • Although Leapfrog is a Programme designed to help
  • children, a facilitated support groups is run for
    mums in a
  • separate room.

Leapfrog
  • There are many benefits for children including
  • A keyworker supports the children in their
    development
  • A supportive and nurturing environment which
    encourages self-expression and self-value
  • Helps children to adjust and develop mechanisms
    for coping with loss, anger, pressures, new
    relationships etc
  • Gives them an opportunity to meet other children
    whose experiences may be similar
  • Introduces strategies for self-protection

  • The facilitated mums group aims to
  • Raises awareness of the difficulties children
    face
  • Explores and share strategies for coping
    (including boundary building)
  • Reduces the feelings of disempowerment and
    isolation
  • Increase self-esteem, self-confidence and
    self-value
  • Helps rebuild mother-child relationships
