Title: Route Redistribution
1Route Redistribution
2Route Redistribution
- Route redistribution is the transfer of routes
learned from one routing protocol into another - Used on routers with multiple routing protocols
3Route Redistribution
IGRP Routing Domain
RIP Routing Domain
Both RIP and IGRP
4Redistribution Example
Must redistribute routes from RIP into EIGRP and
vice versa on Router A and between IGRP and EIGRP
on Router B.
RIP Domain
200.200.16.32/27
12.1.0.0/16
172.16.16.0/20
Router A
EIGRP Domain
12.2.0.0/16
160.48.32.0/20
129.130.32.0/19
Router B
10.2.0.0/16
10.1.0.0/16
IGRP Domain
5Redistribute Command
Executed in the router configuration mode for the
routing protocol your redistributing
into. Redistribute ltprotocol redistributing
fromgt ltautonomous systemgt metric
ltvaluegt Autonomous system number is included
only for protocols that use them (i.e. IGRP and
EIGRP). Format of metric depends on the type of
metric used. If no metric is supplied, a default
value is used. The default metric can be changed
with the default metric command.
