Writing Learning Goal

• The students will reveal various ways of creating
  values of colour intensities by mixing white
  (tint), gray (tone), black (shade), as well as
  the components of each of the twelve colours that
  are displayed on the colour wheel.
• The concepts that will be taught are elements
  that are included in the colour wheel such as the
  colour values (tints, tones and shades) and
  intensities for complimentary colour mixing.
• Questions that will be tackled during the session
  are
• What twelve colors make up the color wheel?
• What is value?
• When is value used? What does it achieve?
• What are some ways we can create value when
  working in color?
• What is intensity?
• How can we affect a colors intensity?

Refining Learning Goal

• The learning goal of this lesson is that students
  will demonstrate a number of ways of producing
  different scales of colour values by creating
  tints, tones and shades by using different
  complimentary colours and developing these into a
  kaleidoscope.
• The students will perform a number of steps in
  order to demonstrate that they have achieved the
  goal
• Discuss vocabulary
• Drawing of three thumbnail sketches
• Cutting out a circle and labeling its twelve
  sections
• Mixing of colours
• Criticism of their own work
• The interactions that are prominent in following
  the lessons goal are learning of new vocabulary
  and the mixing of colours.
• The learners will demonstrate that they have
  perceived the main aims and objectives of the
  lesson by developing a discussion of the new
  vocabulary learnt, will develop three thumbnail
  sketches of a kaleidoscope, will mix colours as
  explained and will show that they are able to
  criticize their own work.
• By following the list of all the interactions,
  the students will be able to achieve the initial
  broad goal.

Structural Design for Blended Approaches

• Pre-requisites
• Students must have gained a good knowledge about
  shading in gray scale.
• Students should have perceived familiarity
  regarding how to develop thumbnail sketches.
• Students must have a basic knowledge and skill
  about how to use paint.
• Content for Before-phase
• Throughout this phase learners will be shown a
  video relating to what they will be focusing on
  throughout the rest of the session

  They can also read pages 103 123 from the book
  Basic design the dynamics of visual form by
  Maurice de Sausmarez.
• Content for Focal Session
• The focal session will be an online session that
  will be based on the viewing of a Power Point
  presentation that deals with concepts of the
  colour wheel itself and also a demonstration of
  the practical session that will take place
  through a webcam and video conference.
• Content for After-phase
• In order to check that the students have
  understood the main objectives of this session,
  they are to complete a quiz that is to be found

• Pre-session - This phase will allow the students
  to search on the internet the subject that will
  dealt with throughout the rest of the session.
• Introduction - The students will be able to
  discuss in groups the research that they have
  conducted during the pre-session.

• Steps
• The tutor shows an example of a completed
  kaleidoscope color wheel as well as artwork that
  demonstrates color value and color intensity.
  Have each student draw three thumbnail sketches
  for the assignment in his of her sketchbook.
• Have each student cut out their paper circle and
  follow the video demonstration for dividing up
  and labeling their circle into twelve sections.
• Have each student draw a pattern using lines and
  shapes in each of the twelve sections.
• Sections are to be painted by mixing the
  complimentary color.
• Practice
• The task that the students will be developing
  will deal with the creation of a kaleidoscope
  that is to be decorated with complimentary
  colours.

• Assessment
• Through the asking of questions, the students
  should identify the concepts upon which the rules
  are based, to see whether they have understood.
• Post-session
• This session will give the opportunity to
  students to look up a website, on which they can
  find similar information to that which was
  discussed during the session.
