Motivation
Goal
My Research

• Software systems are becoming highly distributed
  and reactive (cell phones, web applications,
  automobiles).
• Designing low-cost, high-quality and reliable
  systems that are highly reactive is hence an
  increasingly important software engineering
  concern, yet conventional methods are inadequate.
• We are researching a novel approach to designing
  these systems that place the services at the
  center of concern, rather than the individual
  components that implement them.

• Provide a service notion that is useful and
  traceable across the entire development process.
• Perform research towards a methodological basis
  for service-oriented software and systems
  engineering.
• Includes investigation of the formal foundations
  for the notion of service, of adequate software
  architectures, modeling techniques, development
  processes, and applications.

• Translating an abstract service architecture
  model into an implementation architecture is
  crucial, but error-prone if done manually.
• What systematic steps can be taken to translate
  an abstract service model into infrastructures
  for executing services?
• What advanced software engineering tools can be
  utilized in doing so?
