What is a Password?
  • A form of secret authentication data that is used
    to control access to a resource
  • The password is kept secret from those not
    allowed access, and those wishing to gain access
    are tested on whether or not they know the
    password and are granted or denied access
    accordingly

What is a Strong Password?
  • Has seven or more characters
  • Does not contain your user name, real name, or
    company name
  • Does not contain a complete dictionary word, in
    any language
  • Is different from previous passwords you have
    used
  • Contains both upper and lowercase letters,
    numbers, and special characters

How to Create a Strong Password
  • Be creative and make it fun
  • Build your password with the first or last
    letters from a favorite phrase, poem, title,
    song, or something else significant to you.
  • Change some of the letters to uppercase, numeric
    or punctuation characters
