Common Areas

• Commonly traveled areas Areas that get the
  most use and have the most student traffic
  before, during, and after school.
• School-Wide behavior expectations for common
  areas apply to all school areas and especially to
  common areas before, during, and after school.

Common Areas

• The focus of this lesson is on a few specific
  areas but applies to all of the Mae Hensley
  School grounds.
• The areas of focus are
• Fields/Basketball Courts
• Quad
• Restrooms

COMMON AREAS

• Fields/Basketball Courts
• Students are NOT allowed on any field or court if
  there is a P.E. class in progress.
• Students are not to engage in any contact sports.
  There is to be absolutely NO TACKLE FOOTBALL.
• No wall-ball while P.E. is on the blacktop.
• Students playing wall-ball are not to throw the
  ball at each other in an aggressive manner.

THE QUAD

• Students are not to run in the quad at any time.
• Students are not to push or shove another
  student, and there is to be no rough play in the
  quad.
• Students are not to throw any ball in the quad.
• Students that act inappropriately on the quad
  receive consequences such as cleaning the
  cafeteria.

THE RESTROOM

• Students are not to hang around in the
  restroom. Go in, use the restroom, wash your
  hands, and get out.
• Upon entering the restroom, if you notice that it
  is full, wait outside until people leave so that
  it doesnt become too crowded.
• If there is activity taking place in the restroom
  that is inappropriate, report it to an adult.

• Students should always show pride in their school
  by throwing all trash in a trash can.
• Students will NOT chew gum or eat candy. All
  food must be eaten in the cafeteria unless
  directed to do otherwise.
• Students will use all equipment in the way that
  it was designed to be used.

• When passing a classroom that has a class in
  session, lower your voice so you do not disturb
  the class.
• Use appropriate language at all times.
• Students will show respect for others and follow
  instructions given by staff the first time.
• During school, students will not leave the campus
  for any reason without permission from the office.

• What types of issues can arise if students dont
  follow the common area policies in high traffic
  areas?
• What is a simple thing that you can do as a Mae
  Hensley student to show that you have pride in
  the appearance of your school?
• Do you see any safety issues that may occur in
  high traffic areas?
