7Most holy and afflicted Virgin, Mother of Sorrows
and Queen of Martyrs. You stood motionless at
the foot of the Cross beneath your dying Son.
Through the sword of grief which pierced you
then, through the unceasing suffering of your
life of sorrow, and the bliss which now fully
repays you for your past trials and afflictions,
look upon me with a mothers tenderness and have
pity on me, as I pray before you to venerate your
sorrows, and place my request with childlike
confidence in the sanctuary of your wounded
Heart.
Painted by one of our parishioners, this portrait
of the Mother of Sorrows now hangs in St Bernards
8Remember, O Most Gracious Virgin Mary, that never
was it known that anyone who fled to your
protection, implored your help or sought your
intercession, was left unaided. Inspired by this
confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of Virgins,
my Mother. To you I come, before you I stand,
sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word
Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your
mercy, hear and answer me. Amen.

10St Joseph
O St. Joseph, whose protection is so great, so
strong, so prompt before the Throne of God, I
place in you all my interests and desires. O
St. Joseph, assist me by your powerful
intercession and obtain for me from your Divine
Son all spiritual blessings through Jesus Christ,
Our Lord so that having engaged here below your
Heavenly power, I may offer my Thanksgiving and
Homage to the most Loving of Fathers. O St.
Joseph, I never weary contemplating you and Jesus
asleep in your arms. I dare not approach while He
reposes near your heart. Press him in my name
and kiss His fine Head for me and ask Him to
return the Kiss when I draw my dying breath. St.
Joseph, Patron of departing souls, pray for us.
Amen
11Love proves itself by deeds, so how am I to show
my love? Great deeds are forbidden me. The only
way I can prove my love is by scattering flowers
and these flowers are every little sacrifice,
every glance and word, and the doing of the least
actions for love.
St Thérèse de Lisieux
12O God, send forth your Holy Spirit into my heart
that I may perceive, into my mind that I may
remember, and into my soul that I may meditate.
Inspire me to speak with piety, holiness,
tenderness and mercy. Teach, guide and direct
my thoughts and senses from beginning to end.
May your grace ever help and correct me, and
may I be strengthened now with wisdom from on
high, for the sake of your infinite mercy.
Amen. (Saint Anthony of Padua)
13Father, I abandon myself into your hands, do with
me what you will. Whatever you may do, I thank
you. I am ready for all, I accept all. Let only
your will be done in me and in all your
creatures. I wish no more than this, O
Lord. Into your hands I commend my soul.I offer
it to you with all the love of my heart. For I
love you Lord and so need to give myself, to
surrender myself, into your hands, without
reserve and with boundless confidence, for you
are my Father. (Charles de Foucauld)
