Weather
By Amanda and Kevin
2
The Sun
The sun powers the water cycle. If there was no
sun we would have no weather or light and heat.
3
Forecasting Weather
A barometer is used to measure air pressure. A
anemometer measures wind speed. A thermometer
measures temperature and the silver liquid inside
is called mercury and the red is called alcohol.
A rain gauge measures precipitation. A wind sock
measures witch direction the wind is blowing.
4
Clouds
There are many different types of cloud here are
some Nimbus, Cirrus, Stratus and Cumulus. Clouds
are made out of dust, smoke and moisture.
5

Water Cycle
  • The water cycle is powered by the sun. When the
sun heats the cold air the warm air rises and it
causes condensation. When the clouds rain or
snow or sleet it is called precipitation.

6
Collection
Collection is when water is stored in lakes,
oceans and rivers. When collection goes into the
lakes it forms a bigger lake.
7
Precipitation
Precipitation is rain and snow and sleet.
Precipitation comes from clouds all the time.

8
Evaporation
Evaporation is when water goes into the air and
forms clouds The sun heats the cold air and the
hot air rises. When the hot air rises it starts
to cool and form condensation. Evaporation is
the first step in the water cycle.
9
Condensation
Condensation is when cold air starts forming
clouds. There are different kinds of clouds.
10
Hurricanes
  • A hurricane starts by evaporation of sea water.
It goes up into the sky and when hot and cold air
blows it starts to spin and form a hurricane.

11
Clouds start in many different ways
Clouds can be formed in many ways. In one way
they can be formed by evaporation. It can be also
formed by smoke by a match and by pressure.
12
The Atmosphere is like a blanket around the
earth. The troposphere is the one that gives us
weather just like the sun.

Storms
Lightning
Blizzard
. Lightning can be hotter than the sun. Lightning
is very dangerous. Lightning can kill you if you
get hit many times.
Blizzards are when heavy snow falls in the
winter. If you are in a blizzard you can get
frost bite or if it is very strong you can
freeze.
14
Storms 2
Rain
Hail
Rain is precipitation. Rain is hail but liquid.
Rain is usually in blizzards and thunder storms.
Hail does not fall in the winter hail falls in
the summer. Hail is frozen rain it only falls in
summer because rain does not fall in winter.
