• The Gospel has historically been attributed to
  the physician Luke.
• He was a physician, known to Paul (2 Tm 411) and
  the early church.
• Also wrote Acts. The book of Acts contains
  sections were Luke is part of the narrative
  (1610-17 205-2118 271-2816).
• Evidence from the Early Church fathers attributes
  the gospel to Luke.

• Written in Greek

• Acts was written prior to 62-63 A.D.
• The Gospel as written prior to Acts.
• Completed somewhere in the late 50s or early 60s.

• Intended for Christians who had a pagan
  background.
• Faith in Jesus rests upon historical facts (see

• He sees Jesus as the Savior of all people (see
  337).
• He emphasizes the humanitarian character of
  Jesus ministry (see 1025-37).
