11Preparing Quality Control and Monitoring Surveys
- Four Surveys were suggested to investigate
trainees, students, and stakeholders opinions
Lab Preparation and Hardware/Software Procurement
- Part of equipment already acquired
- Rest of equipment are in the delivery stage.

12Development of LIS Curriculum
- Course standards document was developed
- Information about course notes, presentations,
exercises, etc - Seven courses were suggested
- Four course syllabuses were suggested and
discussed within the development group and with
stakeholders - Syllabuses for Topics and legal/economic
aspects courses are underdevelopment - International material for three courses will be
used - Material for other courses are developed in-house
by faculty members
13Coordination with Stakeholders
- Letters of invitations were sent to more than 30
stakeholders (authorities and agencies) - Response received from more than 15 stakeholders
- First stakeholders meeting conducted at the
Faculty conference room on September 22nd - Application forms were sent to stakeholders to
nominate their candidates for the certificate. - A workshop is planned in May for final touches
before teaching starts.
14Offering LIS Topics to Undergraduate Students
- LIS topics are taught to 4th grade Public Works
Department students registered in the computer
Applications in Surveying elective course - A Visit to the Egyptian Surveying Authority as
LIS stakeholder is planned within April

- LIS lab at the Faculty of Engineering is ready
- Lab includes hardware, software, and library
- 80 of LIS curriculum course material is ready
- Five of the proposed 7 course material completed
- Material includes course notes, exercises,
presentations, -
- An international workshop that combines Local and
international experts in addition to stake
holders will be conducted. - Teaching LIS certificate courses to candidates
form Egyptian authorities interested in LIS field
will start. - mutual visits between Ain Shams University and
international institutes faculty members will be
conducted. - Conducting visits to LIS stakeholders in Egypt
