What needs to be done ?
0. Buy a legal copy of the standard from the
National Standard Institution 1. Analyse the
EN15038 Standard to see which requirements apply
to you. 2. Realize your present situation to
know what you need to do to meet requirements of
the standard. This is sometimes called
gap-analysis or planning meeting. 3. Identify
your processes and their parameters 4. Assign an
representative for the system in your company 5.
Train internal auditors 6. Establish a quality
management system, write procedures and
instructions
13
What needs to be done ?
7. Launch the system in your company 8.
Prepare records 9. Make internal audits
required by the system 10. Carry out various
analyses and the management review. 11.
Choose the certification body 12. Pass
successfully the certification audit The
process is not very difficult but an assistance
of a professional consultant would save a lot of
time, efforts and money.
14
Do It Yourself or hire a consultant ?
  • Consultants assistance
  • tremendous experience
  • less assignment of the own staff
  • clear structure of actions
  • good selection of certification body
  • assistance during certification audit (as an
    option)
  • well defined costs
  • DIY option
  • your own employee(s) assigned for preparations
  • lack of experience
  • possible mistakes
  • possible overloaded self-obligations
  • hidden costs are real costs

The company managament staff should decide
