Proposed key aim for the FESCo network 2008/2011
  • The FE Sports Co-ordinator programme will
increase opportunities for young people, aged
between 16 and 19 in education, to participate,
perform and lead and volunteer in Sport .

14
Primary objectives
  • Objective two
  • To drive a process of sport development planning
within every FE college, which is connected to
    existing networks and plans

15
Primary objectives
  • Objective three
  • To drive the improvement and enhancement of the
    existing college based sport enrichment
programmes for students aged between 16 and 19,
with a particular focus on raising participation,
broadening opportunities to lead and volunteer
    and improve and enhance competition
    opportunities.

16
Secondary objectives
  • To develop gifted and talented support and
provision for 16-19 year olds within the college.
This will include the college based competition
structure and, where relevant, college based
    sports specific academies, or equivalent.
  • In addition, the programme will compliment
college activities to provide training for
careers in the sports industry, contributing to
the capacity that supports the participation of
young people and adults in sporting activities.

17
Expected outcomes
  • An increase in the range and quantity of sport
programmes available to the college students aged
    16-19.
  • An increase in the number of coaching hours
    across a range of sports.
  • An increase in the number of intra and inter
    college competitions.
  • An increase in training, support and deployment
of young people as volunteers in sport.
  • An improvement in the provision of sign-posting
    information to college students regarding
    participation opportunities in community sport.
