2002 - The Beginning
  • In January 2002, the Minister announced the move
    to a map selection process
  • 2002 was used for gathering information,
    brainstorming and providing clients with a demo
    model
  • Public meetings held in 30 communities

2003 - Development
  • Implementation date

  • Statutes revision Mineral Tenure Act, Mineral
    Tenure Act Regulation, Mineral Title Online Grid

  • MTO prototype built and tested by clients
  • Public meeting held in 30 communities

2004 - Building
  • Contracted Pacific GeoTech Systems to build the
    MTO system based on the approved business rules
  • Maps brought up to date
  • Thorough testing by staff
  • Training of staff and clients
  • Public meeting held in 30 communities

2005 - Implementation
  • MTO was successfully implemented on January 12,
    2005
  • This resulted in the biggest change in mineral
    exploration in 150 years or more
