  factoring.
• 1. Can I factor something out?
• 2. Is it the difference of squares?
• 3. Is it a trinomial square?
• 4. Is it a trinomial but not a square?
• 5. Can I group them?

• We always check to see if we can factor
  something out of the polynomial before we do any
  other type of factoring.
