• On June 16 - 18 1998 the students and teachers
  from 21 Estonian GLOBE schools got together for a
  GLOBE learning expedition to Värska

• First day we got together in the University of
  Tartu , gave our reports and prepared for the
  expedition

• In the evening we took buses and drived to
  Värska.
• Värska ( 5768 N, 27 38 E) is the beautiful
  site in the South-East Estonia, close to the
  Peipsi lake (the 5th largest lake in the Europe).

• We had great plans for Värska.
• Conduct environmental measurements
• Practice GLOBE measurement protocols
• Compare and check our instruments
• Practice the team work
• Give the complex description of the environment
  in Värska
• Participate in the GLOBE Games
• Get familiar with each other
• Have a lot of fun

  thermo-meters for checking how temperature is
  varying by height and place...

• measurements water temperature
• transparency, pH, dissolved oxygen, alkalinity,
  conductivity...
• Water in the lake Orsava was of little
  transparency and brown - (because of many iron in
  the water), but warm enough for swimming ...

• The simplest business seemed to be walking or
  even sitting with the GPS and receiving
  coordinates from satellites...

• Every 3 hours somebody observed the sky
• Fortunately clouds with heavy rains covered this
  day only the Northern part of Estonia and did not
  affect Värska

• We enjoyed even the afternoon discussion of the
  measurement results and errors and made very
  important conclusions

• Hi! Of course, we didnt only learning. We had
  discussion on sustainable life, we competed on
  GLOBE games, we went to sauna, we swam, we boated
  on the lake and
• we made friends
