INTRODUCING YOUR ...
JUNIOR LACROSSE FRANCHISE
2
CLUB MANDATE OBJECTIVES
  • The Kingston Lacrosse Association (KLA) is
committed to growing the sport of lacrosse in
Eastern Ontario and feel that a junior club in
the limestone city would help give the sport the
boost that it needs to grow in our area. Keeping
our kids local will not only enhance our minor
program system by generating much excitement, but
it will also provide mentors and leaders to our
    younger players in the KLA.
  • Since Kingston is the first capital of Canada,
isnt it fitting that we be proud supporters of
our National Summer Sport with a junior
    franchise!

THE OPPOSITION
12
THE OPPOSITION
  • The Ontario Lacrosse Association is piecing
together the best and most economic solution.
  • Teams that have been confirmed west of Kingston
    - Caledon, Center Wellington, Innisfil, Shelburne
    and West Durham.
  • East of Kingston is still under discussion. We
are not at liberty to name teams but some cities
    are
  • proposing JUNIOR B teams,
  • some cities have been denied JUNIOR B teams and
  • some are simply in discussion with the OLA
    regarding their desires
  • If a viable Eastern Division can be formed,
Kingston would be part of that division. Failing
that Kingston will join the more Central
Division. From a travel standpoint the cities
are roughly the same distance whether we go East
    or West.
  • Most important point ... WE'RE IN!!

SPECIAL THANKS TO
14
SPECIAL THANKS TO
  • After a hiatus of more than twenty-five years,
lacrosse returned to Kingston in 1996. Without
the dedication of countless hours by a number of
individuals to bring this great sport back to
Kingston, we would not have been able to bring a
junior lacrosse franchise to the limestone city.
At this time, we wish to acknowledge the
    following people
  • FOUNDERS OF THE KINGSTON LACROSSE ASSOCIATION
  • Peter Bergin
  • Al Herrington
  • Don Tough
  • PAST PRESIDENTS (in order of service)
  • Don Tough
  • Al Herrington
  • Peter Bergin
  • Dave Hallett driving force to introduce box
    lacrosse to Kingston
  • David Austin  Hal Cowie

15
ALSO, SPECIAL THANKS TO
  • Special recognition to the late Bob Joseph - the
original financial backer of the KLA.
  • Dale Robertson for the numerous number of hours
he has contributed to the junior application.
Without his persistence, this goal would not have
    been obtained.
  • The 2008 KLA Executive Association Committees
for the additional duties they have taken on to
support both the minor and junior associations.
  • Players, parents and supporters of lacrosse in
    Kingston. Without your dedication, lacrosse
would not be able to grow in the limestone city.
