  • Do we want some LGBT movement that operates on a
    national basis.
  • Jewish MOSAIC based in Denver is a national
    organization.
  • KESHET is planning to go National. Wants to share
    experiences. Planning two pilot cities, JPRIDE in
    San Diego and Detroit.
  • Does the group need to be separated out?
  • It can be incorporated into mainstream
    communities at large?

  • Which Ls, Gs, Bs, and Ts are we talking about?
  • WCGLJC Different types of groups getting
    together under this one banner. Had regional seed
    point people to get connected to reconcile their
    sexual identities and their Jewish life.
  • LGBT are less invisible today.
  • Institutions, like synagogues help that.
  • Bi and trans and trans still struggle.
  • Under-served community is the Orthodox LGBT
    community.
  • What are our goals as a community?
  • What is the purpose of having a LGBT session at
    this conference?
  • What is right for one institution and people is
    not necessary right for someone else.
  • Have simple things like
  • No check box for gender, but blank.
  • Have parent/parent on forms instead as
    mother/father.
  • Have a single stall bathroom, i.e. handicapped
    bathroom.
  • To find legitimacy, many LGBT institutions, seem
    to try to morph into straight conformity.
  • Does everyone need to be mainstream?
  • Synagogues do stand for other values, so do have
    to take that into consideration, but be
    respective and understand diversity.
  • Hard to find non-Reform LGBT religious life.
  • Dont assume that a persons life following a
    certain script.
  • Universal values you can teach with anyone love
    your neighbor as yourself. Bekuat nefesh. Lishon
    HaRah.
